Jack Blackham is Known as the “Prince of Wicketkeepers”. He was the first ever wicketkeeper to have played for Australia. He was a member of the Australian team that played the first ever Test in the history of Cricket at MCG in 1877 and was also a part of the infamous Ashes Test in 1882 . Jack was a master behind the stumps and revolutionized the art of wicketkeeping.

Jack was one of the first wicketkeepers to stand up to the wickets, even to seamers and the quality of the cricket gloves in those days were pretty poor comparing with the modern ones. Jack Blackham described the cricket gloves as “little more than gardening gloves”. First-ever Australian wicketkeeper has a total of 71 dismissals(37 catches and 24 stumpings) in the 35 Tests he played.
