Delhi Daredevils will once again miss the services of their captain Zaheer Khan as the veteran pacer has been ruled of Tuesday’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi. The 38-year-old pacer also missed the last game against Kings XI Punjab where Delhi were bowled out for 67. The former Indian fast bowler suffered a hamstring strain during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens and he will now be monitored. Karun Nair will continue to be the stand-in captain for today’s game.” Karun Nair couldn’t do much in the game against Kings XI Punjab where Delhi shot out for a shocking 67 on a wicket that didn’t look or behave all that bad. It was also the second lowest total this year after Royal Challengers Bangalore were bowled out for 49 in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Delhi mentor Rahul Dravid, on speaking to iplt20.com, stressed the fact that the team lost for not putting enough runs on the board and nothing wrong in Nair’s captaincy. “There are times when people are going to run out of form. Whether you’re the captain or vice-captain sometimes you run out of form. It happens. That’s not a reflection on his captaincy. Still he’s led junior teams and he’s led quite well. Nothing much he can do when you don’t put enough runs on the board.”
Delhi Daredevils are presently placed at the bottom of the table with only 2 wins from 8 games under their belt. With four points in the kitty, it now seems pretty difficult for the Delhi to make it to the playoffs.
